There's No Room for Me and You

from When Did it Change? by Dawn Barrington

/

about

I sat in my music room facing a brick wall and I wanted to write some lyrics for a chord progression that I was putting together then I saw cracks in the bricks and the words just flowed from there. I can see this song is reminiscent of my song “Voices” on my “Break of the Day” album. Once again those nagging doubts are trying to break through but this time “there’s no room for me and you”

lyrics

Verse 1
Cracks in the bricks of my wall, It’s tumbling down again
People looking through the holes, They can see the feelings within

Chorus
Little grains of sand on my floor,
I hear footsteps who’s that knocking on my door
Don’t you dare come round here no more
Cause I’m cleaning all the dirt from my floor

Verse 2
You said I was living in sin, Not before I realised where you’d been
To hell and back to try to change my mind, But you were just the voice I left behind

Chorus x 2

There’s no room, no room, no room
For me and you
